Andre the Giant (2018) – Review

Considered by many as one of the finest wrestling documentaries ever produced, this film delves into the life and career of professional wrestler, Andre the Giant (Andre Roussimoff), who gained popularity and stardom in the 1980’s, performing in the famous, squared circle. This documentary contains footage spanning over several decades, along with recent and up to date interviews with the people that knew the man himself. Originally released in 2018, this is a very striking and at times emotional tale that is a must watch for any wrestling enthusiast out there.

Seaspiracy (2021) – Review

This new, thought-provoking documentary highlights the damage that humans are really doing to our very own ocean life, while also uncovering an alarming amount of corruption that is happening on a global scale. Seaspiracy is available to stream on Netflix, but it has to be said that there are a number of extremely raw and upsetting scenes of animal cruelty included. If you’re able to get past that, however, I’d encourage anybody to watch this at least once in their lifetime.

Beyond the Mat (1999) – Review

Described as a heartfelt documentary focused on the day-to-day lives of professional wrestlers, this explores a bizarre sporting world to some, but a much loved one to others. The film follows athletes such as Terry Funk, Jake Roberts, Darren Drozdov and even Mick Foley on their quest of doing what they love – traveling on the road, entertaining the fans and putting their bodies on the line. This emotional documentary dates back to 1999 and is something most wrestling fans will have already seen since its release over twenty years ago. Beyond the Mat is currently streaming on Netflix.

Apollo 11 (2019) – Review

An unbelievable look at the American led Apollo 11 space mission that landed successfully on the moon and returned to earth in 1969. The mission was led by commander Neil Armstrong and two fellow pilots – Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins. The film manages to capture the events spanning all the way from the initial launch preparation to shortly after the safe competition and touchdown back on earth. A truly spectacular documentary based on, at the time, the most dangerous space mission of its kind.
